There are 3 basic tenets common to people of faith: tithes, preparing for future events, and stewardship of resources. In today’s world, each of these usually involves money. Some people of faith don’t think they can afford to participate in these tenets due to financial bondage. Shackles can be broken, but financial freedom doesn’t take place overnight. It requires “baby steps”. Often one needs to crawl, then stand before taking baby steps. This blueprint contains attributes of financial freedom grouped into 5 sections:
- Understand your financial status quo: Somehow, you got to where you are financially. As you review some of God’s will, and learn how others try to control your finances, you will learn that you are in control of your financial trajectory.
- Launch family goals and priorities: Working together as a family, you set clear, actionable goals that everyone has agreed on. You then prioritize those goals. You are able to say “No” to influences that may pull you off course or distract from reaching your goals.
- Ownership and accountability: Because everyone in the family had input in the creation of goals and agreed to the priorities, fights about money have ceased. Each member of the family is accountable for their financial actions.
- Financially at peace with the world and God: You no longer feel guilty about money you do or don’t have. You no longer care about what anyone outside of your family thinks about your personal financial management.
- No longer complacent: As you become financially free, you look outward. You become a better steward of all with which God has blessed you. You do a better job of preparing for unexpected events.
Financial freedom is a mindset. Working through the 23 chapters over a 23 week period to become financially free, you learn you’re in control of your money. Your money is not in control of you. Every financial decision you make is made with deliberate conscious thought. You render unto Caesar that which is Caesar’s, and you return to God a portion of all He has given you. You prepare every needful thing in the event of an economic tsunami and strive to be a good steward over all He has bestowed upon you, lifting others as you move forward and upward.
